Participation in NatWest CricketForce has rocketed since its launch in 2002, when just one showcase club took part. It grew for the eighth consecutive year in 2010 as a record 1,642 ECB affiliated clubs took part. In addition, more than 85,000 volunteers, including over 800 NatWest staff, county and England players helped out at their local clubs over the weekend.
Last year the NatWest CricketForce weekend (from Friday 26th March to Sunday 28th March 2010) was launched by Andrew Strauss and Charlotte Edwards at Harrow St Mary’s Cricket Club on Friday 26th March. Richard Taylor, Brand Director at NatWest said: “We're celebrating our 30th year in Cricket and are proud to be continuing our support for the ECB and the grassroots game. NatWest Cricket Force can transform a ground in a matter of hours and provides a real sense of satisfaction for everyone involved. We have hundreds of dedicated NatWest staff ready and waiting to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.”
NatWest CricketForce is the biggest annual volunteering event in UK Sport. It is a volunteering initiative aimed at rejuvenating the nation’s cricket facilities. It encourages cricket supporters, their friends and families, and local businesses the opportunity to give something back to their local community cricket club by volunteering to participate in major renovation projects to clubhouses and grounds.
