Collinson Cup Table - 15 June 2013

U13 Cup Final

Copley U13's narrowly lost out in an exciting final that was played over two days. Warley won the toss and batted first. Their powerful batting line up got them off to a flying start, with their opener retiring in the third over. A wicket each for Luke Whitaker and Adam Potter helped to halt Warley's momentum, but at 74-2 off 13 overs, they looked like posting a score in excess of 110. However, Copley fought back well with two run outs and some good catches as Warley finished on 98-7 off 20 overs.

Copley's reply got off to a bad start as Will Rushton was bowled by a fast yorker. As the rain came, Copley were 19-1 off 4 overs. The team came back the following Sunday to resume their innings on another damp morning. The loss of Prahalad Nadella without adding to the score was a blow, but Zain Ramzan and Luke Whitaker helped to put on 24 for the next wicket. Despite losing wickets, Copley kept up their challenge and were still in the game as they needed 10 runs off the last over. Zain was bowled for 20 and the Haaris Rashid was caught on the boundary edge as he went for the six that would have tied the game. Even though the team lost by six runs, they gave a very good account of themselves and all the players should be proud of their efforts. Well done to the team and thanks to everyone who came to support them.
